OIKN invites MSMEs to capitalize on Nusantara’s commercial areas

The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) invited micro, small, and medium enterprises to seize business opportunities in commercial areas within Nusantara currently being developed in East Kalimantan’s North Penajam Paser and Kutai Kartanegara.

To that end, the OIKN held a market gathering to brief MSME actors on the business opportunities they can seize by participating in the development of public and social infrastructure in Nusantara.

Speaking during the event in North Penajam Paser on Thursday, OIKN Deputy for Infrastructure and Facility Silvia Halim explained that the market gathering was to attract MSMEs whose quality and standards align with Nusantara’s vision of becoming a global city.

According to Halim, the government would carry out an open and fair selection process for MSMEs that will supply the basic needs of civil servants and security personnel that will start inhabiting Nusantara’s Core Government Area (KIPP) in September 2024.

“Following the selection process, we will provide the chosen MSMEs with mentoring and empowerment activities,” Halim pointed out.

“That way, MSMEs and Nusantara City will grow side by side,” Halim remarked.

Viby Indrayana, OIKN Director of Building, Regional, and Urban Management, underscored that the construction of Nusantara had progressed to the stage of filling in some infrastructures and facilities that have been built.

He remarked that the OIKN is striving to rope business players into the city to provide supplies of medicines, food, and beverages to revitalize Nusantara’s social ecosystem.

Meanwhile, chairperson of an MSME association in North Penajam Paser, Rizal Ramadhan Sinaga, expressed hope that the government would genuinely involve local MSMEs in the development of IKN to help them boost their revenues.

Bandung Marathon as sport tourism to boost foreign exchange: Minister

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said the Bandung Marathon was included in the Sport Tourism category which could increase the country’s foreign exchange.

He noted that such event is a source of foreign exchange with income doubled from the ordinary tourism.

“Based on our calculation, the sport tourism has almost double the spending from usual foreign tourism,” he stated at Gedung Sate, Bandung, on Sunday.

If Indonesia explores more sports tourism, it can help increase the quality of tourists, considering this category of tourists will stay longer, resulting in more tourist spending for the local economy, the minister remarked.

“Usually, foreign tourists spend US$1,500 per visit, but they can spend almost US$3,000 for sport tourism. This is what we are after,” Uno disclosed.

From this matter, his party is encouraging the implementation of sport tourism in various regions with different sports types that interest foreign sports enthusiasts.

“Besides running, the event can be held for cycling, open water swimming, triathlon, and automotive sports, as well as several sports activities related to trail running, which are very popular,” he continued.

The minister also hopes the Bandung Marathon can be on par with Tokyo and Boston at the World Major Marathon level.

“We can improve the quality. Hopefully, the Bandung Marathon can compete with other World Major Marathon like the Tokyo Marathon, Boston, or New York, because Bandung’s weather is very comfortable and it has a long history,” he conveyed.

Uno took part in the second day of the Bandung Marathon in the 10K category.

Together with 15 thousands of other participants, he started the Bandung Marathon from Gedung Sate passing several protocol roads in Bandung City such as Supratman Street, Terusan Jakarta Street, Ibrahim Adjie Street, Asia Afrika Street, Riau Street, Diponegoro Street, then finish at Gedung Sate.

Beyond borders: Indonesia combats terrorism risk for migrant workers

The National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT) is stepping up efforts to safeguard Indonesian migrants in Kinabalu, Malaysia.

During a visit to the Indonesian Consulate General on July 20, BNPT Head Mohammad Rycko Amelza Dahniel emphasized the importance of national unity in combating extremism.

“We must stay true to our national motto of unity in diversity by embracing differences while keeping an eye out for those trying to spread thoughts related to radicalism and terrorism,” he noted as cited from the agency’s statement received here on Sunday.

The BNPT visit also focused on strengthening national awareness, particularly among vulnerable groups like women, adolescents, and children.

Indonesian Consul General Rafail Walangitan commended the BNPT’s initiative, acknowledging the transnational nature of terrorism.

“Terror threats transcend borders,” he said, emphasizing the need for constant alertness.

Imam Subekti, BNPT Director of International Legal Instruments, presented research on Indonesian migrant workers (PMIs) involved in terrorism.

The research revealed that some Indonesian migrant workers have participated in terror-related activities, including social media propaganda, fundraising, and acts linked to radical beliefs.

BNPT’s visit concluded with a screening of the documentary “Pilihan” (Choices). This film explores how social media is exploited to lure female Indonesian migrant workers into extremist groups.

Need strategies to tackle online gambling’s far-reaching impacts: Govt

Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) Minister Budi Arie Setiadi emphasized the need to devise strategic policies to deal with online gambling practices since they have adversely influenced society to a great effect.

During the inauguration of the Task Force of Cyber Crime and Online Gambling in Jakarta on Friday (July 19), he cited data presented by the Financial Transaction Reporting and Analysis Center, saying that government officials and security officers have also been involved in such practices.

“Around four thousand military personnel are exposed to online gambling, 15 people at the Kominfo Ministry, about a thousand at national and regional legislative councils, and some 30 staff at the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission),” he remarked, according to his office’s statement here on Sunday.

The minister then highlighted that some companies had decided to dismiss their employees for deteriorating productivity as a result of addiction to online gambling.

“Imagine, a factory in Bekasi laid off about 1,500 workers, half of which were discharged over online gambling activities, which drove them to commit any measures necessary, including stealing, to gamble. As a result, the crime rate rose,” he stated.

On that note, he reiterated that the Kominfo Ministry is committed to taking various actions to eradicate online gambling, including severing access to websites that facilitate it.

According to him, the ministry has successfully taken down a total of 2,552,749 pieces of online gambling content from July 17, 2023, to July 17, 2024, three times higher than the 800 thousand pieces blocked during the 2017-2023 period.

He also emphasized the importance of all parties supporting the government in its efforts to protect Indonesia from crimes on digital space.

“I highly appreciate the establishment of the Task Force of Cyber Crime and Online Gambling, considering the government requires support from all relevant stakeholders to succeed in implementing its strategies,” he remarked.

Keroncong Plesiran event can promote Yogyakarta’s tourism: Minister

Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Minister Sandiaga Uno expressed optimism about the Keroncong Plesiran event in Bantul District, Yogyakarta Province, being able to showcase the tourism appeal of the province.

According to the Ministry’s statement received here on Sunday, Keroncong Plesiran, part of the 2024 Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) program of the ministry, is an event featuring the Indonesian-styled musical performance of “keroncong” that spotlights the freedom of expression and improvisation.

“Keroncong Plesiran has managed to earn a spot in the KEN for the fourth time. I am very proud of this, and I support this event so that it can be further improved in the future,” he remarked in Bantul on Saturday (July 20).

Unlike its previous editions, this year’s Keroncong Plesiran, being held on July 20-21, seeks to combine various artistic disciplines, such as fine arts, music, and dance.

Among the musicians performing at the event are Pramudyaswara Keroncong Orchestra, Hompimpah Keroncong Orchestra, Symphony Kerontjong Moeda, Okky Kumala, Ardhito Pramono, Isyana Sarasvati, and Jogja Hip Hop Foundation.

Uno said he views the performances showcased at the event as an example of innovation that can attract youngsters to Keroncong by blending it with other music genres.

“Music, as a universal language, turned out to be able to unite Gen Z. Hence, it is safe to ditch the assumption of Keroncong being enjoyable only to those from older generations, as Gen Z can also enjoy it,” he remarked.

The minister then said that he was keen to see Plesiran Keroncong further stepping up its quality and scale in its next edition.

In addition to enjoying musical performances, visitors are also proffered with a bazaar that showcases creative products made by micro, small, and medium enterprises, as well as a camping ground.

Meanwhile, Head of the Tourism Office of Yogyakarta, Singgih Raharjo, revealed that people from outside Yogyakarta had accounted for 70 percent of the event’s total visitors.

“This event does drive tourists to start loving Keroncong,” he said.

DPRD DKI terima banyak laporan ijazah ditahan pihak sekolah

Ia berharap program tebus ijazah menjadi prioritas.

DKI upayakan 55 persen penduduk gunakan transportasi publik

Wakil Ketua DPRD DKI Jakarta Zita Anjani

Ketidakhadirannya dikarenakan bukan rapat pengambilan keputusan.
