Presiden Direktur Freeport Indonesia Tony Wenas menjelaskan, upacara pengibaran bendera memperingati HUT ke-79 Kemerdekaan Indonesia di PTFI mengangkat sub-tema “Pertambangan Hulu Hilir Untuk Indonesia Maju”.

“Saya ucapkan selamat memperingati Hari Ulang Tahun ke-79 Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesiakepada segenap keluarga besar PTFI dimanapun berada.

Hampir semua peradaban kuno mengenal tentang dongeng pulau berlapis emas.

Lalu zaman berganti menjadi modern.

Direktur Jenderal Bina Pembangunan Daerah Kementerian Dalam Negeri, Restuardy Daud mengatakan pemerintah mencatat sebanyak 7-16% masyarakat Indonesia masih rentan terhadap ancaman kelaparan.

Daud menuturkan level ketahanan pangan RI benar-benar diuji ketika sejumlah negara menyetop keran ekspornya.

Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan stated that a task force to handle illegally imported goods will be launched on Friday, July 19, 2024.

“I have met with the National Police Chief and the Attorney General. Hopefully, next Friday, the task force will have been formed,” he remarked at the office of the Trade Ministry in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Hasan noted that his ministry had identified spots used to smuggle illegally imported goods into Indonesia. Those locations are spread over several provinces, including Banten, Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, Batam, and South Sulawesi.

“For that reason, we are asking for support from the Attorney General’s Office to form a team to see the situation on the field soon,” he remarked.

Hasan stated that in addition to officials from the Attorney General’s Office, the task force will comprise officials from the National Police (Polri), relevant ministries such as the Ministry of Industry, and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).

Nusantara’s development might take 15-20 years to complete: Palace

The development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan is a long-term project that might take Indonesia 15 to 20 years to complete, according to presidential special staff Grace Natalie.

“We are referring to the overall progress when we talk about the 15 percent completion,” she noted while referring to President Joko Widodo’s earlier remarks about IKN’s construction to have progressed to around 15 percent by August 17.

Natalia noted that in the first phase of construction from 2022 to 2024, the government had made notable progress in developing the State Palace, buildings of coordinating ministries, and supplies of water and electricity.

“The IKN, being built in an area about four times larger than that of Jakarta, is a major project that the government is currently working on,” she reiterated.

Earlier, on Tuesday (July 16), President Widodo appealed to the public to understand that the IKN is a long-term development project that cannot be completed within just two or three years.

“It still requires investment and still needs investors from within and outside (the country). We are pushing this,” he noted in Jakarta.

The president also reiterated his keenness to relocate his office to Nusantara and start working there. However, Jokowi underlined that he would only move to the city after electricity and water facilities and his office were ready.

Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono ensured that supplies of clean water and electricity would be ready before the head of state started working in Nusantara.

The testing process for clean water has been underway since July 15.

Regarding power supply, Indonesia’s future seat of government has now received 10 megawatts of electricity, and the capacity is to be increased to 40 megawatts.

Meanwhile, state-run construction and investment company PT PP expressed optimism about the construction of Nusantara’s State Palace being completed ahead of a national ceremony for Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day scheduled on August 17 at IKN.

Jakarta to hold 2024 JITEX on August 7-11

JITEX 2024, organized in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Retailers and Shopping Center Tenants (Hippindo), will be located at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).

Head of the Jakarta PPKUKM Office, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, stated in a press conference here on Wednesday that Jakarta has the potential to become a global driver of economic growth.

She stated that given the potential, the city’s development towards being a main destination for business and tourism should be encouraged.

This year’s JITEX is a milestone in the efforts to enhance Jakarta’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to the global stage.

“This exhibition will showcase the innovation and quality of our local products, which will drive international partnerships and business growth,” Allo stated.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta provincial government and the regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) continue to accelerate the integration of the national economy into the world economy network.

This is done to support the competition of Jakarta in being one of the global cities in the world.

Allo said that Jakarta has vast potential that has yet to be touched. However, the JITEX event, which will showcase investment, local product innovations, and business matching, will attract several investors and buyers.

“Jakarta has a lot of assets that can be developed. There are many sleeping assets that the provincial government has not yet been able to reach, explore, and see what can be done,” she remarked.

On the other hand, Chairman of Hippindo, concurrently Chairman of the Asian Tourism, Trade and Economy Council (ATEC), Budihardjo Iduansjah, stated that JITEX is tangible evidence of Jakarta’s potential as a global business center.

“This activity is a real manifestation to strengthen domestic trade. One of the steps is through the Shopping in Indonesia Movement,” he remarked.

OIKN invites MSMEs to capitalize on Nusantara’s commercial areas

The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) invited micro, small, and medium enterprises to seize business opportunities in commercial areas within Nusantara currently being developed in East Kalimantan’s North Penajam Paser and Kutai Kartanegara.

To that end, the OIKN held a market gathering to brief MSME actors on the business opportunities they can seize by participating in the development of public and social infrastructure in Nusantara.

Speaking during the event in North Penajam Paser on Thursday, OIKN Deputy for Infrastructure and Facility Silvia Halim explained that the market gathering was to attract MSMEs whose quality and standards align with Nusantara’s vision of becoming a global city.

According to Halim, the government would carry out an open and fair selection process for MSMEs that will supply the basic needs of civil servants and security personnel that will start inhabiting Nusantara’s Core Government Area (KIPP) in September 2024.

“Following the selection process, we will provide the chosen MSMEs with mentoring and empowerment activities,” Halim pointed out.

“That way, MSMEs and Nusantara City will grow side by side,” Halim remarked.

Viby Indrayana, OIKN Director of Building, Regional, and Urban Management, underscored that the construction of Nusantara had progressed to the stage of filling in some infrastructures and facilities that have been built.

He remarked that the OIKN is striving to rope business players into the city to provide supplies of medicines, food, and beverages to revitalize Nusantara’s social ecosystem.

Meanwhile, chairperson of an MSME association in North Penajam Paser, Rizal Ramadhan Sinaga, expressed hope that the government would genuinely involve local MSMEs in the development of IKN to help them boost their revenues.

Bandung Marathon as sport tourism to boost foreign exchange: Minister

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said the Bandung Marathon was included in the Sport Tourism category which could increase the country’s foreign exchange.

He noted that such event is a source of foreign exchange with income doubled from the ordinary tourism.

“Based on our calculation, the sport tourism has almost double the spending from usual foreign tourism,” he stated at Gedung Sate, Bandung, on Sunday.

If Indonesia explores more sports tourism, it can help increase the quality of tourists, considering this category of tourists will stay longer, resulting in more tourist spending for the local economy, the minister remarked.

“Usually, foreign tourists spend US$1,500 per visit, but they can spend almost US$3,000 for sport tourism. This is what we are after,” Uno disclosed.

From this matter, his party is encouraging the implementation of sport tourism in various regions with different sports types that interest foreign sports enthusiasts.

“Besides running, the event can be held for cycling, open water swimming, triathlon, and automotive sports, as well as several sports activities related to trail running, which are very popular,” he continued.

The minister also hopes the Bandung Marathon can be on par with Tokyo and Boston at the World Major Marathon level.

“We can improve the quality. Hopefully, the Bandung Marathon can compete with other World Major Marathon like the Tokyo Marathon, Boston, or New York, because Bandung’s weather is very comfortable and it has a long history,” he conveyed.

Uno took part in the second day of the Bandung Marathon in the 10K category.

Together with 15 thousands of other participants, he started the Bandung Marathon from Gedung Sate passing several protocol roads in Bandung City such as Supratman Street, Terusan Jakarta Street, Ibrahim Adjie Street, Asia Afrika Street, Riau Street, Diponegoro Street, then finish at Gedung Sate.
